Why does JetDex need my location, camera and motion sensors?
JetDex needs all three to work out which plane you are pointing at:
- Location tells JetDex which planes are around you and where they are relative to you. It is used while the camera screen is open. Your coordinates are sent to our server only to look up nearby flights and are not stored with your identity.
- Camera shows you the sky with labels on the planes, and lets JetDex find the plane in your photo for an exact match. Photos and camera frames stay on your phone unless you choose to share them.
- Motion and compass tell JetDex exactly where the camera is pointing: up, down and which direction. This happens on your phone.
Two permissions are optional: notifications, for friend activity and Sky Sense alerts when a plane is about to pass over you, and contacts, to find friends already on JetDex. JetDex works without them.
