Using JetDex
- How does JetDex identify a plane?JetDex matches where your phone is pointing with live ADS-B positions of aircraft around you, then confirms it with the photo and the plane’s movement.
- How do I get the most accurate result?Point at the plane, not near it, keep away from metal and magnets, calibrate the compass once, and give JetDex a second to lock.
- Why doesn’t a plane show up?Some aircraft don’t broadcast ADS-B, some areas have no receivers, and planes very low or far away can be out of range. Here is what to check.
- How does the live map work? The JetDex live map shows every plane flying near you in your browser, free and without an account. Your location stays in your browser.
Permissions and privacy
- Why does JetDex need my location, camera and motion sensors?Location finds the planes around you, the camera shows the sky and finds the plane in your photo, and the motion sensors tell JetDex where the phone is pointing.
- What data does JetDex keep about me?JetDex keeps what it needs to run your collection and friends, never sells data and has no ads or tracking. Your exact location is not stored.
- How do I delete my JetDex account?Delete your JetDex account from Settings in the app, or by emailing us. Your data is deleted within 30 days.
Friends and the game
- How do invites and friends work?Share your invite link or QR code, find friends from your contacts, and race them on weekly leaderboards. Invites unlock rewards.
- What is “Somebody loves me” and how does it work? When friends catch the same flight, the first four each get a line in order: Somebody loves me, thinking of me, dreaming of me, wants me. Here are the rules.
